Give

Give

What does it look like to give of your time, talent and treasure?

Giving from the Heart

Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7

Time

Time is the most valuable gift we have to give.  We can give of our time in service to others or the church as we love the people around us.

Talent

Each one of us have been given gifts and abilities.  The Bible says we are given these gifts for two reasons: first, to bring glory to God and second, to serve others.

Treasure

God does not need our money- it's his money to begin with- but he gives us opportunities to support the work of his Kingdom here on Earth.  God loves the "cheerful" giver and we can participate in his work through tithes and offerings.

Why We Give

At Home City Church we understand that as children of the One True God we are positioned for blessing and commissioned to be a blessing. The definition of blessing is "the transmission or endowment of the power of God's goodness and favor poured into our lives." The purpose of God blessing us is to make us a conduit that pours out blessings in order to fulfill the purposes of God: the Great Commission of Christ in our generation.

We have been blessed to be a blessing, which means there is purpose behind the blessings. We live with purpose and we give with purpose. When we see that our blessings have purpose, then we begin to have a divine perspective on our resources.

We see our money as something sanctified for use in God's wonderful plan and eternal purposes. Our money has a mission! We will freely take all that we are given and use it to bless others!

We stand in the belief that as we pray for one another, and join our hearts in unity, that we will live and support Home City Church through our tithes and offerings, to advance the Kingdom of God and see the vision fulfilled.

Where We Give

1. The Church

We give, serve and sacrifice for the purpose of building Christ's Church. The Church is God's chosen instrument, which is the ''theater'' for the display of God's manifold wisdom, power, and authority both on earth and in heaven to all principalities and powers. The purpose of God is the Church, and the Church must be in sync with the mission of God. Christ loves the Church and defines it as His bride that He gave Himself for. Some people don't like the current version of the Church but the Church is not an afterthought. It is a time manifestation of the eternal purpose of God.
  • Ephesians 3:9-11

Ephesians 3:9-11: …and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places, according to the eternal purpose which He accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord…

2. Those in Need

God's heart for the less fortunate and those in need is continually on display throughout the entirety of scripture. From Abraham to the church age, giving and generosity to the less fortunate is a staple of God's people. This generosity and support was one of the foundational characteristics of the early church.
  • Acts 4:32-34

" All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything they had.  With great power the apostles continued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God’s grace was so powerfully at work in them all that there were no needy persons among them."

3. Teachers & Leaders in Ministry

There are some people that God calls specifically into positions of ministry to be sent as missionaries to areas of need, to be shepherds of the flock, and teachers of the Word. The New Testament church demonstrates and instructs us to support these leaders.
  • Galatians 6:6, 1 Corinthians 16:1-3

"Let the one who is taught the word share all good things with the one who teaches."

    Galatians 6:6

"Now about the collection for the Lord’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. 2 On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with your income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made. 3 Then, when I arrive, I will give letters of introduction to the men you approve and send them with your gift to Jerusalem."

    1 Corinthians 16:1-3
